Serenity

Serenity. 1998. The starship in The Visitors (see Fiction page). Serenity is the name of the ship (it was the best I could do at short notice). The ship is about 20km from nose to tail, and spins on this axis to simulate gravity. The crew mostly live in the body of the ship. The fins around it contain equipment of unspecified design for collecting hydrogen (as fuel) from the atmospheres of gas giants. The ring around the fins has two purposes: it provides additional strength for the fins, and it provides an area of high gravity. In this area, the crew members who will be visiting a planet can train for the planet's gravity without inconveniencing the rest of the crew.

I reused this ship as the spaceliner Artemis in my film From the Earth to the Moon and Back Again. Comments
