This page shows you what we're planning for the next few months. Events are on Monday evenings unless noted otherwise. See this page for details of where we meet.

Except where noted otherwise, there is a time limit of 15 minutes on all competition entries.

Please note: We may have the opportunity for some guest speakers later in the year, and so some evenings may change from the listing below. Please check this page a day or two before the meeting to check for any changes.

Editing Concepts A demonstration and discussion on editing.

Making Short Films A discussion and film show about how to approach making a film of less than five minutes.

Wednesday 14 February

Civic Festival 2006 A public showing of the video of last year's Civic Festival, made by the club for Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council.

19 February

Editing Demonstration Several popular programs and their use for basic editing demonstrated.

26 February

One-Minute Open Competition Make a video, about any subject, that lasts no more than one minute. Followed by members' videos.
The winner was Boxing Day, by Barbara and Peter Norman.

5 March

Camera Techniques Demonstration and discussion about the technical and artistic aspects of using a camcorder.

12 March

Editing Demonstration Part 2 Following on from our previous evening on 19 February, a short film will be edited in Pinnacle Studio 10.

19 March

Tech Talk DVD, HDV, DVCAM, Colour Sampling. A talk about different video-related topics, what they mean for amateur film-makers, and a look at future developments.

26 March

Editing Workshop Split into small groups for this hands-on evening.

2 April

Ealing Film Show Members from Ealing Video and Film Makers show us some of their short films.

Ten-Minute Open Competition Make a video, about any subject, that lasts no more than ten minutes. Followed by members' videos.

Themed Competition Make a video where the given theme is prominent. The theme this year is gardens, which could be anything from a window box to stately home. There is a fifteen-minute time limit. Followed by members' videos.
The winner was Trebah, by Barbara and Peter Norman.

No meeting because of a BBC Band concert at Allum Hall.

Summer Break

The club is closed during July and August, giving you more time to take advantage of the good weather to shoot lots of video.

17 September

Sets and Costumes Bring down cloth, clothing and props to create the fortune teller look for our new club production.

Lighting and Sound Hands-on evening in preparation for the new club film.

Documentary Competition for the Dennis Edwards Shield Make a documentary that lasts no more than fifteen minutes. Followed by members' videos.

Holiday Competition for the Bert Dewdney Shield Make a video about a holiday that lasts no more fifteen minutes. Followed by members' videos.

29 October

One-Minute Open Competition / HACCA selection Make a video, about any subject, that lasts no more than one minute. Then we choose our entries for this year's HACCA competition.

5 November

Shooting Scripts Bring your camera to test your storyboards in this filming exercise.

12 November

Camera Types and Technology Advances A discussion of camera formats and new technology.

HACCA Competition at St Albans.

Colour Correction and Grading A demonstration of how colour can change your film.
